These two teams occupy the bottom places in the Section but they regaled al those present at the Melita ground with an action-packed game as they created many scoring chances.

Rabat keeper Andrew Zammit saved the day for his side with very good saves.

Floriana applied the early pressure. Claude Farrugia served Andrew Pisani with a cross from the right and Zammit saved his effort from outside the area. Leo Muscat was fouled just outside the area and Isaac Galea drove over the bar from the free kick. Luke Micallef was then fouled just outside the area and after Zammit partly saved the free kick by Galea, Farrugia drove out from the rebound.

In the first action by Rabat, in the 12th minute, Etienne Scicluna served Aidan Azzopardi with a through ball and he missed the bar from outside the area.

In another action by Floriana, Muscat served Farrugia in the area and a defender cleared the ball to a corner. Daniel Baldacchino served Galea with a short pass from the flag kick and the ball was cleared to another corner from his cross.

Rabat then created another two actions when Nathan Borg served Azzopardi with a through ball and Greens keeper Luke Falzon saved his shot from outside the area and Scicuna served Azzopardi with a through pass and the ball hit the bar as he tried to score with a lobbed ball.

In a reaction by Floriana, they mounted two more actions. Farrugia served Baldacchino with a square pass and he missed the upright from outside the area and Galea served Muscat in the area. Zammit denied him with a diving save to a corner.

At the other end, Nicolai Cardona served Azopardi with a through ball in the area and Falzon saved his shot in two attempts.

Floriana forged ahead in the 28th minute when Glenn Tabone dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and served Muscat in the area who scored with a low diagonal shot.

The last two actions before the break were bith created by Floriana. Farrugia served Tabone with a cross from the right and he missed the upright from outside the area and Muscat released Farrugia on the right flank and he missed the bar from the edge of the area.

A minute after the restart, Rabat equalised when Jamie Muscat served Azzopardi with a square pass and he scored with a hard rising shot from well outside the area.

Another two actions were then created by Floriana. Muscat was fouled on the right flank and from Galea’s free kick Muscat headed slightly out from inside the area.

Joseph Briffa was then fouled on the right flank and after Galea’s free kick, Zammit denied Tabone as he dived and saved his header to a corner.

Rabat reacted and Muscat was fouled outside the area but Azzopardi missed the bar from the free kick.

Zammit was again called in action as he denied substitute Matthew Bajada with a diving save after he was put through in the area by Farrugia. At the other end, Azzopardi was fouled outside the area and from the free kick by the same player the ball was headed away.

In the second minute of added time substitute Daniel Agius was fouled on the left flank and Zammit saved the free kick by Galea in two attempts.
